16 November at BioEscalator

SVC2UK started off its 2019 summit with two masterclasses and a panel discussion built around growing and funding biotech start-ups. Opening the afternoon, Tim Funnell led the first masterclass about venturing into biotech and spinning out from university reserach. The second masterclass, led by Rajarshi Banerjee shared insight on making successes in translational medicine. The closing panel tied together the days disucssions and was chaired by Alan Roth.

17 November at Saïd Business School

The second day of Oxford events looked at how data technology can transform our society with multiple masterclasses running throughout the afternoon. Masterclass speakers included Jenny Gove (Mobile Payments UX Lead at Google), Mike Lawton (Founder at Oxford Space Systems), Ben Little (Venture Strategy Lead at Siemens), Paula Skokowski (Co-Founder at Oxford Angel Fund), Cameron Turner (Founder & CEO at Datorium) and Dan Sola (CEO at Archangel Lightworks).
General Magic Screening 

17 November at the Saïd Business School

We hosted a special screening of the multi-award winning feature documentary, General Magic, that tells the tale of how the great vision and epic failure of the Silicon Valley start up changed the world. The screening was followed by a panel discussion led by Dr Marc Ventresca, Saïd Business School and Wolfson College, on the prompt, “General Magic recounts a story of amazing young engineers and others in mid-1980’s Silicon Valley. What does this spirit look like in 2020?”
Thought Leadership

18 November at The Foundry

Our Oxford thought leadership event asked the Oxford ecosystem ‘How can technology improve our society?’ The event featured a conversation with Onfido’s Co-Founder and CEO Husayn Kassai, and aspiring astronaut and high profile STEAM and Space ambassador Abby Harrison – hosted by Kenneth Cukier, NY Times bestselling author on technology and business, and a journalist at The Economist.
Oxford Ecosystem Dinner

18 November

To close off our Oxford events, our speakers and guests gathered together to celebrate the Oxford entrepreneurial ecosystem with a closing dinner. Our guests included students, entrepreneurs, founders, academics and industry leaders from across the Oxford, UK and US ecosystems.
